road map for future
sarada avadhanam

Road map for future:

i) Statement of aim:’ to use duty meet process as a means to professionalism in the police force and improve skill sets including super specialisations’.
ii) Duty meets are clubbed with sports , which is a misnomer and there is a need to look at it as means to improve scientific and task oriented expertise of the police force and the duty meet training should be brought under Training wing of the force.
iii) There is a need for workshop on training needs analysis for all India duty meet at APPA. We may also think of inviting all states for the workshop who will be more than willing to attend the same if it is conducted in AP as AP is recognised for its quality training and disciplined participation.
iv) One person from each police station or unit office to be identified to seriously prepare for competing in the all India duty meet to widen the talent available for utilisation for the national team.
v) Minimum qualification of first class graduation with sciences.
vi) A scientific aptitude test needs to be conducted for all aspirants at the police station itself on computer based test model. This will ensure that only agile minds and able bodies compete.
vii) There is a need for three tier training:
a. At the district level by teams deputed from PTCs at the district HQ for preparation to range duty meets.
b. At the PTC level training for preparation for state duty meet.
c. At the APPA for preparation for national duty meet.
d. And training of trainers from PTCs by APPA
viii) Courses should be two tiered:
a. Basic sciences and techniques of relevance to the police duties and general English language written skills and communication skills.
b. Applied and Advanced courses and mastery of techniques of relevance including biometrics, narco-analysis, brain mapping etc
ix) Create a fund for training costs by contributing 10/= pm by the entire police force and use the same to build up a fund whose annuity can be used for defraying the expenses. Contributions on a voluntary basis may be called for from interested citizens and corporates offering 100% tax exemption. Try for an annual grant from Directorate of forensic sciences and BPRD for the purpose of defraying training expenses as the same is intensive and involves super specialisation in relevant fields.
x) Course material and question banks to be supplied to all the participants and if possible stored at all police stations and unit offices as a part of the standard library.
xi) Computer programming skills need outside faculty support as in-house faculty is not equipped for the job. A talent hunt to identify programmers in the force is required who can be trained in an outside agency for perfection and mastery.
xii) There is a need to search and buy or develop a lexicon and visual dictionary for ‘portrait parle’ which should be stored in each police station and supplied to each contestant.
xiii) New items in digitalisation to be taught in videography, photography, HLP, identification, portrait parle.
xiv) Prepare case study material on proven medico legal cases with question bank and videos obtained from CLUES and net based material.
xv) Kit boxes and practice material should be made more robust, with more space and more organised, with ‘improved less costly no maintenance versions’ replacing the items presently kept therein like rechargeable torches etc.
xvi) Increase the level of participation by lady contestants in the team.
xvii) Personality development techniques, time management techniques, NLP, yoga, concentration management should also be included in the training curriculum.
